Jody Amazon, DSc APRN, BC, GNP/ANP

Dr. Amazon is a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatric care, with advanced training in both primary care and mental health. She holds a Master's degree in Nursing as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, is dual certified (GNP and ANP), and earned a Doctorate of Science in Nursing, reflecting her commitment to advancing patient care.

She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, Georgia Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, and the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA). She also served on the Georgia Board of Nursing's Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Committee from 2020 to 2022.

With extensive clinical experience, she has cared for older adults in both hospital and outpatient settings, including her work at Emory Wesley Woods Hospital. In 2006, she founded a private practice focused on geriatric primary care and psychiatry, later expanding her work through additional practice partnerships and the launch of her own outpatient geriatric psychiatry practice. In 2023, she introduced Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, reflecting her continued focus on innovative, evidence-based care.

In addition to her clinical work, she has been a dedicated educator and mentor since 2015, serving as a preceptor for nursing students at Emory University, Georgia State University, and Wilkes University, and supporting the development of future psychiatric nurse practitioners. She has also contributed to clinical research, continuing education, and professional speaking engagements.

At Ascend Medical, she practices within a whole-person care model, where primary care, mental health, and specialty services work together to support each patient's overall health, so patients don't have to navigate their care alone or repeat their story.
